Kingdom Business
Ensuring every student that wants a chance gets a chance.
By Providing the best opportunities to those with the least.
Why Poieo?
Poieo is a Greek word that means to make (make ready, prepare, produce, shoot forth) and to do (act rightly, carry out). One example of this word is found in Luke 3:12-13, where tax collectors ask John what they can do in order to bear fruit in keeping with repentance. John’s response does not lead them out of their profession but instead advises what they can do in order to bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. So, we also have sought after our Lord’s heart in what we can do.
Every Student:
Job positions are tailored to the students abilities instead of students being asked to meet the needs of the job.
Gets a chance:
Not simply a chance to work but a chance at an abundant life. A student's success is dependent upon their willingness to grow and not their ability. Creating a launchpoint that prepares them for life.
Best Opportunity Initiatives:
During their first quarter of employment, students are asked to write out the answer to one question at the end of each work day: How did I make a difference in the home I worked in today?
This question is intended to offer each student purpose in their work as they shift their focus towards those they serve through their employment.
At the end of the first quarter, students review their responses. They are then asked to identify 5 strengths they see within themselves and explain how they were used.
Students receive a 5 cent per hour raise for each strength they are able to identify.
During the second quarter, students are asked a different question: How were my strengths used to make a difference in the home I worked in today?
This question is intended to teach them the impact of who they are, in the lives of those around them.
At the end of the second quarter, students review their responses to identify how they have grown in each of their strengths.
Students receive a 5 cent per hour raise for each strength they are able to identify personal growth in.
At the beginning of the third quarter, each student is asked to identify 5 insecurities they would like to overcome. At the end of each work day, they record their responses to three questions:
Where did my insecurity present itself?
What triggered it?
How did my strengths help me through it?
These questions are intended to help the students learn their trigger points, bring awareness to where they should be watchful and teach them to use their strengths to overcome their insecurity with confidence.
At the end of the third quarter students review their responses and are asked how learning to identify their insecurities and work through them has impacted their daily lives.
Students receive a 5 cent per hour raise for each insecurity that they are able to identify the benefits of healing from.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, a meeting is held with each student to develop a personalized plan according to the desires of their heart and hope for their future. The length of this plan will correlate with their date of graduation.
